The IB has gained popularity in Hong Kong that more local international schools, private schools and direct subsidy schools have been authorised to offer IB programmes in recent years. There are currently 67 IB schools in Hong Kong, of which 34 schools are offering IB Diploma Programme (IBDP). In 2021, Hong Kong was ranked 11th globally on the number of candidates with 2,143 candidates. And the average score of Hong Kong candidates was 38.9 points, 7.1% higher than 36.3 points in 2020. 130 candidates also achieved the perfect score.
